For those of you who haven't switched yet...

Get an iPhone...

I made the switch last November when my verizon contract expired. (switched the day after it expired, just to be sure that the V wouldn't try to stick me with a charge or something) and I got the 8GB 3G version... best phone ever!

I know, i know... I'm a little late on the iPhone bandwagon. BUt I didn't want to be stuck with a $175 ETF and i was also apprehensive about ATT's coverage. Since the switch I am pleased to say that coverage is good... not as good as Verizon, since i have had some issues with ATT's coverage mysteriously dropping from full bars to zero while sitting in the same spot in my office, (These anomalies are few and far between) but good enough that I am not going back to Verizon... EVER!

Now the good stuff that makes the iphone shine:

1. The Apps... there are so many cool apps you can get from the itunes store and lots are free. I've downloaded over 25 apps so far and some are just stupid and fun, like lightsaber and wobble, and some can be life changing like Lose it (a calorie tracker that helps you lose it). The current favorites of mine are the Guitar tool kit, Facebook, Crayon, and Lose it!

2. the web... you can view the web as long as it isn't a Flash driven website. I mean, th e full WEB... not that BS thing that verizon has that is a dumbed down version of the internet... you can view streaming videos, and movies for free and you can also view your home desktop using a VPN. You can watch full movies on You tube and even pron (if you are into that).

3. Cheaper than Verizon... This is with regards to the phone billing itself, the total bill is more because you have to pay for the unlimited data plan but with the roll over minutes, i end up with much more talk time. Also, international texting is almost half the price per text, and ATT doesn't charge you for incoming text if it's international. Verizon does. And incoming international calls just go to your regular minutes, i think Verizon has charged me for incoming international calls. BOOOO!!!

4. Full email support... right now i can check all my email accounts on my phone. That's my leeumali.com address, my gmail, my wjla account, and my 4 aol emails. All from my iphone!

5. Chat... AIM, and Gtalk for free... nuf said.

6. Free wi fi at all ATT hot spots.

The Bad stuff, so far...

1. Can't send pics thru text... You have to email photos to an email address.

2. No Video recording capabilities... yet.

3. For some reason, my phone number has not registered as an ATT number, so free ATT wi fi is not working. SUpposedly this is because I carried over my number from a different carrier... I guess it doesn't matter anyway since i have unlimited data connection thru 3G network.

So yeah, iPhone is where it's at... Also, because the Blackberry Storm SUCKS...

Post Worthy

Here are a couple of things that are post worthy: For this year's "Do something new each Year" I bought a Handcycle and I should receive it in the next couple of months. Hopefully I will get it in August and will have enough time to train on it to do a few dozen miles on the C& O canal for the Alzheimer's ride.

The ride I ordered is a Shark S by Quickie. I got it from Bike-on.com and it's Bright RED! yeah, it's loud.

Anyway, Life is good. Later.

Spring is here

Spring is kinda here. It's gotten cold again but it's supposed to warm up in the next week. This means camping, fishing and bonfires! I'm looking forward to going back out on the boat and trying to catch that big one this year. We'll see how that goes.

In other news, I'm broke because i am using up all my money to pay of this school debt. This means, no more new or vintage guitars for a while.

Last thing, I've been looking in to accessible vacation spots in the Philippines and it looks really promising. Boracay and Puerto Galera both have good ones. I'm leaning towards Boracay tho, just because I've never been there.

This crazy little thing...

I've been at WJLA for a month now and it has been really good. I have a bunch of really cool people working with me and the atmosphere is upbeat and driven. There is a lot of work and it's always fast paced so my day goes by quite fast. It's exhausting at the end of the week tho, since my sleep patterns have not established itself yet. I need to get to bed earlier and sleep throughout the night. Other than that, I like it here.

On another note, I have been playing guitar now for about 6 months and i am getting the hang of it. What I need to do is sit down and actually work on the DVDs and CD lessons that i have here. That and take classes or something. My fingers are all beat up from playing.

Last thing, I need to work out more.

News Update

As of February 5 I have been with WJLA, working as a web graphic designer for ABC7 in Rosslyn. I still continue to do freelance work with NVCC as well as USCIS. So far, working in Rosslyn is fun, the traffic tho, i could do without.

If anyone is out at Rosslyn on a weekday, hit me up and we can do lunch, or happy hour even!
